Can't Get the Best of Me

So, it's at the same place as last time, right? (I hope so - it's pretty cool that it's not that far away from us.)

I don't know if I'll be able to drag anyone over with me this year, but I'll be there. So you better win!

Besides, I think we're playing Dalton in a couple of weeks, so any way to psyche them out is a good thing, LOL.

Just a highlight reel from last season. Even if we stank, at least there were some bright spots all up in there. I was one of them.

If you noticed the weird little flower/candy shop in the cafeteria yesterday, I assure you it's legit. For this week until next Wednesday, the basketball team is selling flowers and candy to raise money. You can find the price list at the booth.

We're still working on getting Sam to walk around delivering the stuff in a diaper and Cupid wings, so stay tuned for that, LOL.

At last, the long wait is over and basketball tryouts are around the corner. I think I worked a lot harder in this off-season than I did the one before that, and I don't know anyone in McKinley who's got as much game as me, so put that together and I'm sure I'm a lock for this year's lineup.

I heard Coach Beiste's gonna be helping out with the basketball team, too. What's she like?

Everyone done with their shopping yet? I am, but then I only had a couple of people to buy stuff for (my mom, my brothers and Nate) and they're all getting Target gift cards. Sweet.

It's gonna be a great holiday. There's already a nice bunch of presents under the tree and my aunties and whoever are gonna start coming over this week to help put Christmas dinner together. I think Mom's kind of looking forward to being around her sisters after being around us guys all the time.

And then next semester... basketball season! :D

Thanksgiving is this week, obviously, and it's generally a happy time at the Frazier household because my mom always puts out a major spread, but it's hard not to think of my dad, too.

He was a cop and Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. I'm sure that was on his mind when he got hit in that shootout with some drug dealers on November 20, 2003. I was nine, and my youngest brother, Andre, wasn't even one year old.

Things were tough after Dad died, but you had to hand it to my mom for keeping it together. I don't know if it makes me a mama's boy, but I think I got a lot of my personality from her. I look like my dad, though, and if there's one thing I got from him, it's that I live cleanly and don't mess around with drugs and stuff like that.

I know I'm not perfect, but I hope he's proud of me anyway.

So I heard the football team is on a winning streak this season. Congratulations. Maybe I should have gone out for football this year, too, but really, I just did it last year because there weren't enough people to make a complete lineup. Basketball's really my #1 thing.

The Mother of All Evil Ms. Hanratty is "concerned" about my midterm English grade and thinks that keeping a journal will help pull it up.

What the hell's wrong with my English? I speak it just fine. Sure, I don't sound like I swallowed a dictionary, but I can express myself, no problem. I can buy food at the store without poisoning myself, I can give people directions when they're lost, and I can put down any guy on the court and he's gonna freakin' feel it.

There are kids in class who speak English worse than me, but I don't see Hanratty getting on their case. Maybe she's making an example of me because I'm a basketball player, which is totally whack. Are people gonna follow me just because I'm on the team? It's just like Charles Barkley said - "I'm not a role model... Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids." I'm not a role model - just because I can dunk, block shots and mix it up on the court doesn't mean I can show other people how to study.

Besides, there's nothing to write about. There's no basketball yet, so nothing's going on. I don't know what Hanratty expects to see out of this. Maybe if I just post random stuff, she'll see what a bad idea this was.

A bunch of Carmel jerks were razzing on me and Nate at the mall this weekend. Punks didn't even have the respect to not kick a guy when he's down (or at least still rehabbing an injury).

Besides the fact that they murdered us in our game this season, they brought up a competition you Glee kids are going to have. Didn't you already win one?

So Duke won last week. I'm not surprised. But I think the Titans are better than they are at least, we could be if Nate because Coach Black is awesome and his last name is easier to pronounce than the Duke coach. (That guy's name sounds like a sneeze.)

Speaking of the Titans, the big game against Carmel is coming up next weekend. We haven't done as good as I thought we would no thanks to Babygate but we all know that stats get thrown out the window when we go up against Carmel, so anything can happen. Hope you guys can come out for that.
